The Dr. Z Z-Wreck is the holy-grail collaboration between Mike Zaite of Dr. Z Amplification, Ken Fischer of Trainwreck Circuits, and Brad Paisley. Brad wanted another amp after the Prescription RX / StangRay era, Dr. Z built the prototype, and Ken did his thing to it — including naming it the Z-Wreck. It became a mainstay in Brad’s rig from 2006 on. After Ken passed, Mike shelved the design… until the 2010 Nashville flood wiped out Brad’s road amps and forced a pair of replacements back into the light. Hearing it again, Dr. Z (with Brad’s blessing) put the Z-Wreck into production using Ken’s notes and that signature Fischer-designed output transformer.
What you get is pure Trainwreck energy in a Dr. Z package: 30 watts of cathode-biased EL84 firepower, a 5AR4 rectifier, and simple Volume / Bass / Treble / Cut controls. It cleans up like a dream with the guitar’s volume knob, blooms into harmonically rich crunch when you dig in, and stays articulate and mid-forward the whole way — country spank, British chime, and rock grind all living in one chassis. We captured ours entirely on the Speed setting — the most desired sound from this amp — so every Proxy in this pack has that snappy, explosive response players chase from a Z-Wreck.
