We are proud to bring you one of the final designs of one of our heroes and undoubtedly the man who has had the biggest impact on tonal shaping in our lives, as well as the lives of millions of guitar players around the globe, the late great amplifier giant, Mark Sampson. As one of Mark’s last designs, he decided to rebuild the tone stack of the modern player series Black Cat and also increase it to a 30 Watt design, all this to help Bad Cat kick off their “Mod Shop” series. The idea of the Mod Shop is to bring in world-renowned amp designers to impart their own custom flavor into a Bad Cat design and who better to kick that project off than the man who helped start Bad Cat. In this amp, you’ll find lovely bright British cleans along with a vintage-style gain that differs from the current production Black Cat which features a more modern or “HI-FI” gain structure. The Sampson Mod Shop Black Cat features some gnarly gain that is cutting and vibes like an old AC30 sent beyond its limits.
This Quad Cortex capture pack is 20 of our best Quad Cortex captures of this amp.
