QC SUPER TREM
The King of Classic Rock Has Entered the Chat
If you're anything like us, there's likely a searing guitar riff echoing in your mind right now—one that defined a generation and still sends shivers down your spine. Chances are, that iconic tone came roaring through a Marshall amp. Today, we're thrilled to present one of the most legendary specimens: a pristine, all-original 1970s Hardwired Marshall Super Tremolo.
The term "Plexi" is synonymous with early Marshall amplifiers and the golden era of classic rock, but Marshall's naming conventions can be a bit confusing. Allow us to clarify. While several early Marshall models fall under the "Plexi" umbrella, none is more iconic than the Super Lead. Introduced in the late 1960s, the Super Lead didn't just power rock 'n' roll—it shaped it. From Jimi Hendrix's psychedelic cleans to AC/DC's gritty crunch and early Eddie Van Halen's soaring high-gain leads, its tonal versatility is legendary. If a classic rock riff is playing in your head right now, there's a good chance it originated from a Super Lead.
So, what's the deal with the Super Tremolo? In essence, it's the exact same amp. The only difference is the addition of a lush, tube-driven tremolo circuit on Channel 2. Both models share the identical circuitry (model numbers 1959 and 1959T), making the Super Tremolo functionally a Super Lead with an extra sonic superpower. (And since tremolo effects are not possible to capture, this beauty delivers pure Super Lead magic.)
The Tone:
We meticulously captured both channels individually and jumped together—the classic technique that unlocks the full potential of these amps.
Channel 1: The quintessential Plexi voice—raw, aggressive, and dripping with attitude. It's pure classic rock aggression, yet don't sleep on its sparkling cleans and edge-of-breakup sweetness. These tones are nothing short of magical.
Channel 2: The "dark" channel, with smoothed-off highs that deliver a rich, mellow character perfect for warmer leads and rhythm work.
To give you the ultimate flexibility, we paired this amp with two iconic Marshall 4x12 cabinets:
1970s Marshall 4x12 with Rola Celestion Blackbacks
A rare and coveted quad of Blackbacks delivers a broader frequency response—deeper lows, extended highs, and a full, authoritative voice that fills the room.Marshall 4x12 with Celestion G12M Greenbacks (6402 cones)
The classic pairing that defined countless recordings. Midrange-forward with rolled-off extremes, this cab punches the mids forward for that unmistakable, biting classic rock snarl.
This isn't just an amp capture pack—it's a piece of rock history, captured in exquisite detail. Fire it up, crank it loud, and let the king of classic rock take the throne in your rig.
This Quad Cortex capture pack is 30 of our best captures of this amp.
This pack is currently V1 QC captures but we do plan to update it to V2 in the future and all purchasers of V1 will receive the update for free.
